The PGA Tour’s FedExCup Fall Series is entering its decisive phase. The Butterfield Bermuda Championship in Port Royal, set to be played October 22–25, marks the start of the final weeks of the season, at the end of which the 2027 Tour cards will be decided. Only the top 100 in the FedExCup standings after the RSM Classic in November will retain their full playing privileges. Among the players currently outside this cutoff are Rasmus Højgaard, a 2025 Ryder Cup player; England’s Marco Penge; and former U.S. Open champion Lucas Glover, who is ranked 108th.

The FedExCup standings after the RSM Classic will be decisive. The top 100 retain full status, while players ranked 101 through 125 receive conditional status. The PGA Tour itself described the situation in its preview of the Biltmore Championship on September 14 as follows: “The common thread running through the fall season is the Top 100 cutoff. It will determine full status for 2027.” Ahead of Bermuda Week, the Tour added in its October 21 preview: “By the time the RSM Classic rolls around next month, careers will have changed significantly.”
Just how close the race is can be seen in the standings as of October 22, published by GolfMagic. Taylor Pendrith held the 100th spot with about 465 points, followed closely by Brandt Snedeker in 101st. Brooks Koepka (104th) and Tony Finau (106th) were also just outside the cut. Players carry all their points from the regular season into the fall. Anyone ranked 51st through 70th at the start of the fall series has already secured a spot in the top 100. For anyone who ends up outside the top 100, the only option left is to go through the PGA Tour Q-School presented by Korn Ferry to improve or regain their status.
Glover won the U.S. Open in 2009, added two more titles in 2023, and has racked up a total of six victories on the PGA Tour. The 46-year-old, who will soon turn 47, is playing his 23rd season on the Tour. This year, he has posted three top-20 finishes; in mid-September, he was still ranked 101st—since then, he has slipped to 108th. In his October 20 preview on pgatour.com, Rob Bolton laid out what Glover needs in Bermuda: “The six-time PGA Tour winner needs a top-20 finish at Port Royal to break into the top 100 of the FedExCup.” His best finish at Port Royal so far has been a tie for 42nd place.
Last year, Marco Penge secured his PGA Tour card as the top European on the DP World Tour. However, his season in the U.S. didn’t go as planned: The Englishman was sidelined by injury midway through the season and was unable to regain his form afterward. On top of that, he faced health issues and the challenges of moving to the U.S. Penge is currently outside the top 100. It remains to be seen whether he will stay in the U.S. with limited status if he finishes outside the cut or return to the DP World Tour.

Rasmus Højgaard was still playing for the European Ryder Cup team in 2025; now he’s fighting to retain his playing privileges. In mid-September, the PGA Tour ranked him 107th, and he hasn’t managed to break into the top 100 since then. At the first event of the Fall Series, the new Biltmore Championship in Asheville, Højgaard withdrew after an opening round that included four Birdies, two double Bogey shots, and a triple Bogey.
The fall series kicked off September 14–20 with the inaugural Biltmore Championship in Asheville. Austin Smotherman then won the Bank of Utah Championship, followed by the Baycurrent Classic in Yokohama. Even before the fall series began, the Tour had warned its players: “Anyone in the top 100 of the FedExCup after the RSM Classic in November will have a job next year.” Those who fall out of the top 100, the Tour added, would be demoted to partial status or risk being dropped from the Tour.
In Bermuda, Chandler Blanchet led after the first round at nine under Par, one stroke ahead of Ben Kohles, Ben Silverman, Danny Walker, and Corey Conners. The final round is scheduled for Sunday, October 25. Following that, the schedule includes the Mexico Open and, from November 12–15, the Good Good Championship in Austin. The season concludes in late November with the RSM Classic. Only after this tournament will it be determined who holds a full Tour card for 2027.
