PGA Tour: 2027 Schedule Announced—No Golf in Hawaii for the First Time in 56 Years
No season opener in Hawaii, a new event in Napa, and schedule changes for the Florida Swing: A complete overview of the 2027 PGA Tour calendar.
On August 26, 2026, the PGA Tour released its schedule for the 2027 season through the Tour Championship. It will be the last season in its current format: Starting in 2028, the Tour will split into the two-track Championship Series and Challenger Series. The 2027 calendar largely sticks to the familiar—but does include some notable changes.
No More Golf in Hawaii
The most striking change: For the first time in 56 years, the PGA Tour will not make a stop in Hawaii. Following the cancellation of the tournament in Kapalua in 2026, the historic Sony Open—which has been played since 1965—will also disappear from the calendar. Instead, the American Express in La Quinta, California, will open the season on January 21, 2027.
The Sentry is moving to the Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, where it will replace the previous Farmers Insurance tournament, which has ended its sponsorship.

One new tournament, several schedule changes
New to the calendar is the Sompo Championship at Silverado Resort in Napa, California, the penultimate tournament of the regular season. Silverado previously hosted a Tour event from 2014 to 2025; starting in 2028, the Sompo Championship will move to a new location. As a result, the Rocket Classic in Detroit will be discontinued after eight years.
During the Florida Swing, two tournaments are swapping dates: The Cadillac Championship in Doral is moving from May to early March and will now take place the week before the Players Championship. The Arnold Palmer Invitational, on the other hand, follows directly after the Players. The Valspar Championship moves from March to May. On the West Coast, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the WM Phoenix Open are swapping dates so that Pebble Beach can avoid clashing with the Super Bowl.
The final season in the current format
The 2027 schedule marks the end of an era: Starting in 2028, the two-tiered structure consisting of the Championship Series and the Challenger Series will replace the current Signature Event model. Larger fields, the reinstatement of 36-hole cuts, a promotion and relegation system, and a new Tour Championship in a match-play format are all on the horizon.
