Tee Times Women's Open: German former winner opens women's major
The world's best female golfers start the last major tournament of the year with the AIG Women's Open. Sophia Popov has the first Tee Time.
Will Lottie Woad continue her meteoric rise? Can Nelly Korda end her dry spell? How strong will defending champion Lydia Ko be? The Women's Open will answer these questions from 6:30 a.m. (local time, 7:30 a.m. German time) on Thursday. That's when the best players in the world will start the last major tournament of the season. Sophia Popov, Germany's only major winner to date, will tee off first. The 32-year-old won the tournament in 2020, a huge surprise at the time. She will contest the first two rounds alongside Shannon Tan (Ireland) and Cara Gainer (England).
Just 22 minutes later, the next German will start. Aline Krauter will tee off at 7:52. Olivia Cowan will tee off at 9:20 am, Laura Fünfstück at 11:48 am. Shooting star Helen Briem will get into the action at 12:48 pm before Esther Henseleit from Hamburg, currently Germany's best female golfer, starts the Women's Open at 1:10 pm. Alexandra Försterling, an Olympic participant in Paris, will be the last German player on the course at 14:43.

New pro immediately favorite at Women's Open 2025
The bookmakers' favorite to win the Women's Open 2025 is Lottie Woad. The 22-year-old Englishwoman has only been a professional for two weeks, but is already the "talk of the town" in golf. Four weeks ago, she won the Irish Open on the Ladies European Tour as an amateur, then finished third at the Evian Championship, also a major. She dropped out of college and immediately turned professional. Another week later, she won the Women's Scottish Open as a professional, which is part of both the LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour. This not only allowed her to keep the prize money she was not yet entitled to as an amateur, but also secured her eligibility to play on the two most important Ladies Tours in the world. Woad joins defending champion Ko and US Solheim Cup player Lilia Vu for the round at 13:54.
