Lottie Woad from England wins the Women's Scottish Open, a tournament organized jointly by the LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour. The Englishwoman had switched from amateur to professional just days before. On the course at the Dundonald Links, the 21-year-old claimed victory with a three-shot lead over seven-time LPGA winner Hyo Joo Kim. Ward receives 300,000 dollars in prize money for her victory.
The former world number one amateur had already won the Irish Open on the LET three weeks ago and finished third at the Evian Championship, one of the five women's majors, just one week later. As she was still an amateur at the time, she did not receive any prize money in accordance with the rules. That would have been 400,000 pounds at the Evian Championship alone. With these two results, Ward had already secured her playing rights on the LPGA Tour and the LET. Now, with her first success as a professional, her Tour card has been extended to two years.

"That's a pretty good result," said Woad after her success in Scotland. "I definitely wasn't expecting to win, but I knew I was playing well and I was just hoping to keep up. It's great. Links golf is really fun and it went well. My dad has been here all week and my mom arrived by train last night, so I was hoping I wouldn't mess up," she confessed after the tournament. Woad had already taken a two-shot lead after the third round.
The best German on the Par 72 course was once again Esther Henseleit. The Hamburg native played a strong final round (67 / -5) to finish tied 16th. All other German players failed to make the cut after two rounds.
Next up for the top players is the last major of the year, the Women's Open. After her incredible run at the links golf tournaments, the young Woad is one of the favorites. Will she continue in the same carefree manner on the big stage? The four days of the tournament in Wales will provide the answer.
