No other tournament on the PGA Tour has as much money at stake as Ponte Vedra Beach. We take a look at the astronomical Players Championship prize money, the million-dollar cheque for winner Cameron Young and the complete payout list for the most prestigious event of the year.
The TPC Sawgrass is known for its sporting drama, but the event is also in a league of its own financially. With total prize money of 25 million US dollars, the Players Championship sets new standards in golf and even outstrips the other "signature events" of the season by five million dollars.
You can find the detailed report on the Players Championship 2026 here.
For Cameron Young, the victory on Sunday evening not only paid off in sporting terms, but above all financially. The 28-year-old New Yorker secured a cheque for 4.5 million US dollars with his triumph.
This means that the Players Championship prize money for first place alone accounts for 18% of the total pool. With this payday, Young catapulted himself to the top of the official money rankings for the 2026 season. By comparison, the prize money for the winner of even the four major tournaments is often below this mark.

It's not just the winner who leaves Florida a multi-millionaire. The Players Championship prize money is so deeply staggered that all players in the top four places collected seven-figure sums:
One of the most impressive stories was written by Canadian Sudarshan Yellamaraju. With his tied 5th place, he secured Players Championship prize money of 925,000 dollars - for the youngster, this means the biggest financial success of his career to date, which has not even included ten starts on the PGA Tour.

For the pros, this tournament remains the most important financial mainstay of the regular PGA Tour season.
