TaylorMade has launched its latest addition to the Milled Grind Wedge family: the Milled Grind 5 (MG5) wedges. The new models introduce several technological innovations aimed at improving feel, spin and versatility. With a focus on precision and consistency, the MG5 series is aimed at golfers of all abilities.
A key feature of the MG5 Wedges is that, for the first time, they are forged entirely from soft carbon steel. This manufacturing process is designed to improve feel at impact and ensure greater consistency from club head to heel. TaylorMade emphasizes that this approach is based on feedback from top players such as Collin Morikawa, who consider a soft feel in the short game to be critical to their confidence.
The MG5 range uses saw-milled grooves that allow designers to bring the groove geometry closer to the rule limits. These grooves have been redesigned with tighter tolerances, steeper walls and sharper radii to generate more spin compared to previous MG generations.
In addition, the Wedges feature the new Spin-Tread technology. This is a surface structure that deflects water away from the clubface, increasing friction even in wet conditions. According to TaylorMade, this technology should increase spin in wet conditions by 13% compared to the previous MG4 model and contribute to a more consistent launch angle.

To meet the needs of a wide range of golfers, the MG5 series offers six different Tour-inspired grind options. The grind refers to the shape of the sole of a Wedge and influences how the club interacts with the ground. A well-chosen grind allows for greater versatility and adapts to the swing style and course conditions.
The bounce (or bounce sole angle) is the angle that runs from the leading edge to the bottom of the sole. It prevents the Wedge from digging into the ground. A high bounce is advantageous on soft ground or sand, while a low bounce is better suited to hard surfaces.
With the MyMG5 program, TaylorMade offers extensive personalization options. Golfers can choose text, logos, color fills and different finishes such as Tour RAW, Aged Copper, Chrome and Charcoal to customize their wedges.
The MG5 Wedges will be available in selected stores from September 4, 2025. The price for the standard models is €229, while the MG5 TW Grind Wedges will sell for €259.
