The Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, is less than half an hour's drive from Philadelphia - and yet it is less familiar to many golf fans than the big names of American major golf. This will change abruptly from Thursday, May 14, 2026: the 108th PGA Championship will drop its anchor at a place that breathes golf history without saying it out loud.
The course bears the signature of Donald Ross, the Scottish-American architect whose designs have shaped generations of golfers. in 2017, the duo Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner undertook a comprehensive renovation of the course - and consistently followed Ross' original plans: Bunkers and greens were reinterpreted, the course stretched to over 7,300 yards and the Par set at 70. The result: a modern masterpiece with a historical foundation.
Here you can find the leaderboard of the PGA Championship 2026.
The last time Aronimink Golf Club had a big stage was in 2018 - when Keegan Bradley won the BMW Championship in a playoff against Justin Rose, both with 20-under-par 260. It is unlikely that such results will be repeated at the 2026 PGA Championship. Kerry Haigh, the Chief Championship Officer of the PGA of America, leaves no doubt that the setup will be challenging - without turning the course into a North American punishment facility.
Rory McIlroy, who has already inspected the course, puts it in a nutshell: "The course will pose few problems from the tee. The real test awaits on the greens - especially when the rain stops and the surfaces pick up speed.
Rarely has the field of favorites at a PGA Championship been as tight and at the same time as exciting as this year. Several players have the kind of form that can lead to victory in a major.
Scottie Scheffler arrives as the world number one and reigning defending champion. The Texan has won once so far in 2026, but has finished runner-up three times - a sign that his form has by no means dipped. Beating Scheffler has rarely been easier in recent years than it is today. And yet: easy is relative.
Rory McIlroy comes to Pennsylvania as a two-time Masters champion in a row - and with an opportunity in his bag that Jack Nicklaus last used before him in 1975: to win the Masters and the PGA Championship in the same year. The 37-year-old Northern Irishman, who won his only PGA title in 2012 with a record eight-shot lead at Kiawah Island, looks more relaxed and focused than in previous years.
Cameron Young, currently ranked third in the world, is one of those players that some observers currently rate as a tad stronger than McIlroy. Several victories in the past two months speak for themselves. The same applies to Matt Fitzpatrick, the 2022 US Open champion, who has already won three times on the PGA Tour this season.
For Jordan Spieth, there is far more at stake at this PGA Championship than just another major success: a win would complete the Career Grand Slam - winning all four majors at least once. For Jon Rahm, he would be the first Spaniard ever to lift the Wanamaker Trophy. And Justin Thomas, two-time PGA champion (2017 and 2022), knows the feeling of holding this title better than most in the field.

The PGA of America announced the official PGA Championship 2026 Tee Times for the first and second rounds on Tuesday - and made for some spectacular threesomes in the process.
Perhaps the most attention-grabbing group of the entire PGA Championship 2026 Tee Times brings together three potential history makers: Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth and Jon Rahm. All three have individual reasons for wanting to win this tournament at all costs. In round one, they start from the tenth tee at 8:40 a.m. EDT, in round two they switch to the first hole at 2:05 p.m. EDT.
World number one Scottie Scheffler defends his title in the company of two English major champions: Matt Fitzpatrick (US Open 2022) and Justin Rose (US Open 2013). The group will start from the first hole at 2:05 p.m. EDT in round one and face the tenth hole at 8:40 a.m. EDT in round two.
Cameron Young, the current world number three, will face two former PGA champions: Keegan Bradley, winner in 2011 - and therefore also the man who last triumphed on this course - and Justin Thomas, who won the Wanamaker Trophy in 2017 and 2022. Tee off round one: 1:54 p.m. EDT, hole 1. Round two: 8:29 a.m. EDT, hole 10.
Bryson DeChambeau, two-time major champion and one of the longest hitters in the field, faces Sweden's Ludvig Åberg and the popular Rickie Fowler. Tee off round one: 8:18 a.m. EDT, hole 10; round two: 1:43 p.m. EDT, hole 1.
Xander Schauffele (PGA Champion 2024, British Open 2024) and Brooks Koepka (five-time Major Champion) together with England's Tyrrell Hatton form one of the most experienced groups in the field. Start time round one: 8:29 a.m. EDT, hole 10; round two: 1:54 p.m. EDT, hole 1.
One of the most human side stories of this 2026 PGA Championship is the Fitzpatrick family. Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick won the Zurich Classic together as a duo in April - a first for the brothers on the PGA Tour. This success secured Alex Fitzpatrick his Tour Card.
At Aronimink, however, the brothers' paths will be separated: Matt will play in the gala group with Scheffler and Rose, while Alex will tee off from the first hole in the very first starting group of the tournament at 6:45 a.m. EDT - together with Americans Braden Shattuck and Ben Griffin.
The following table lists all pairings and tee times for the first and second rounds of the 2026 PGA Championship in full. Times are for Eastern Time (EDT). Round 1 will take place on Thursday, May 14; Round 2 on Friday, May 15, 2026.

Par 70, almost 7,400 yards, treacherous greens - Aronimink is not a course that forgives mistakes. The compact, powerful layout should suit players who can control their irons precisely and are convincing with the Putt. Raw distance potential alone is not enough here.
This tends to speak in favor of McIlroy and Fitzpatrick, who are both known for their iron play. But it also speaks in favor of Scheffler, whose strength lies precisely in this completeness. Whoever lifts the Wanamaker Trophy into the Aronimink evening sky on Sunday will probably be someone who plays the greens with respect and creativity - and who can cope with the pressure of a Major Sunday.
