The second major of the year will be held from May 14-17, 2026. The tournament week begins on Monday, May 11, with the official practice days. The PGA Championship is known for having the strongest field of participants in golf, as it traditionally brings together most of the top 100 players in the world rankings.
The venue is the historic Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. The course is returning to host the PGA Championship after more than 60 years (last time in 1962). Aronimink is a classic "Donald Ross" design course, known for its challenging bunker landscapes and undulating greens. the women's PGA Championship was held here in 2020. Two years earlier, the PGA Tour held one of its playoff tournaments, the BMW Championship, at Aronimink Golf Club.
The defending champion for 2026 is Scottie Scheffler, who triumphed at Valhalla in May 2025. Scheffler thus underlined his dominant position as world number one. Only three European golfers have ever won the PGA Championship: Rory McIlroy (2012), Martin Kaymer (2010) and Padraig Harrington (2008).
Historically, the PGA Championship has been dominated by two names:
The PGA Championship is one of the most lucrative tournaments in the world. Total prize money of around 19 million US dollars is expected.
Aronimink is located on the US East Coast, which means a time difference of six hours to Central Europe.

Tickets for the 2026 PGA Championship are allocated via an official registration system:
What is unique about this Major is that not only Tour professionals are competing. In addition to the top players in the world rankings, 20 golf teachers (PGA Professionals) qualify for the main field every year via the PGA Professional Championship. This underlines the tournament's character as the championship of the PGA of America.
The winner of the PGA Championship not only receives a large amount of prize money, but also the Wanamaker Trophy. With a height of approx. 71 cm and a weight of 12 kg, it is one of the largest and heaviest trophies in golf. It is named after Rodman Wanamaker, who founded the tournament in 1916. At that time, the tournament was still played in a match play format. It was not until 1958 that they switched to the counting game that is still used today.
