More than two decades ago, the 2-Ball design revolutionized the world of golf. The new Odyssey Ai-Dual putters now continue this tradition with the 1/2-Ball Alignment. Instead of placing two whole balls on the putter head, Odyssey uses a half-ball shape that sits directly against the face.
“When you look down at address, you want a smooth transition,” explains Jacob Davidson, VP of Product Strategy at Callaway. The design perfectly frames the golf ball visually. This visual symmetry helps players’ brains intuitively recognize alignment errors and reduce tension in the setup. Independent tests at Baylor and Clemson Universities underscore the success: Golfers sank about 11% more putts from a distance of 1.8 meters using the new technology.

The Technologically Advanced Ai-DUAL Insert in the Odyssey Putter
The series’ name is derived from the latest generation of face inserts. The Ai-DUAL Insert is the result of thousands of AI simulations and offers a solution to a problem that affects even professionals: inconsistent ball-striking.
- Dual-layer construction: The insert combines a soft outer layer of urethane for a premium feel with a firmer inner layer. This internal structure was calculated by AI to stabilize ball speed on off-center strikes.
- Forward Roll Design (FRD): The new, more aggressive grooves feature a 19-degree angle. Working in tandem with the dual insert, they ensure that the ball transitions more quickly into forward rotation and slips or bounces less.
The result for all golfers is significantly more consistent distance control—regardless of whether the ball is struck perfectly in the center or slightly toward the toe or heel.

Odyssey Ai-Dual Putter Square 2 Square: The Solution for a “Straight” Putt Stroke
A particular highlight of the series is the Odyssey Ai-Dual Square 2 Square (S2S) models. These putters follow the trend of “Zero Torque” technology. Thanks to a special shaft adjustment directly below the center of gravity, the face remains square to the target throughout the entire swing without the player having to actively work against rotation.
Particularly innovative: The S2S models feature a built-in 2-degree forward angle (Forward Press) in the shaft. To make this feel natural to the hands, Odyssey has developed a new Reverse Taper Grip that neutralizes this angle through its feel.
