Callaway/Odyssey is launching a new line of putters called S2S TRI-HOT (Square 2 Square), positioned as a new addition to the zero-torque segment. The series focuses on a massive forward weight shift to improve consistency for all golfers.
Callaway presents the Odyssey S2S TRI-HOT Putter series, an evolution of the proven Zero-Torque philosophy. The models, which appear in the familiar Rossie, #7 and Jailbird head shapes, aim to eliminate one of the biggest challenges with alignment putters: the unclean response and the associated inconsistency in roll.
The central design element of the S2S TRI-HOT series is the extreme shift of the center of gravity (CG) to the front (Forward CG). According to the manufacturer, this was achieved through an elaborate multi-material construction. Aluminum and steel are used, supplemented by over 140 grams of tungsten, which have been strategically placed. The result of this construction is that more than 80 percent of the head weight is below the top edge (topline).
This forward CG position allows for a modified hosel placement: the shaft now enters the head directly on the top edge and very close to the clubface. This should reduce the need for shaft lean in the address position, resulting in a more intuitive and forgiving setup.
For improved ball control, Odyssey relies on the Ai-DUAL insert, the development of which is based on artificial intelligence. The insert consists of two layers of urethane: a soft outer layer and a firm inner layer. This combination is designed to ensure consistent ball speed across the entire clubface and optimize forward roll. This effect is supported by the new FRD grooves (Forward Roll Design). The grooves are deeper, more aggressive and have a 19-degree angle which, in conjunction with the dual insert, promotes the immediate forward roll of the ball.
The putters are supplied with a Black SL 120 shaft. Developed on Tour, this PVD finished shaft is heavier and stiffer than previous Odyssey shafts (SL 90) to work optimally with the head design. The grip is the New Pistol Plus Grip. It is medium in size, has defined edges and is designed to help golfers to better perceive the clubface alignment during the putting swing.
The Jailbird Cruiser is offered as a special option for players who prefer a longer, balanced putter setup. This model is 38 inches long as standard, has a heavier head, an even longer and heavier SL140 shaft and a 17-inch grip.
The Odyssey S2S TRI-HOT putters are aimed at anyone looking for maximum consistency in their putting stroke.
