New Putter Series: Odyssey S2S TRI-HOT Unveiled

Callaway/Odyssey is launching a new line of putters, positioned as an innovation in the zero-torque segment under the name S2S TRI-HOT (Square 2 Square). The series features a significant shift of weight toward the front to improve consistency for all golfers.

With the Odyssey S2S TRI-HOT putter series,Callaway presents a further evolution of the proven Zero-Torque philosophy. The models, available in the familiar Rossie, #7, and Jailbird head shapes, aim to eliminate one of the biggest challenges with alignment Putters: an imprecise address and the resulting inconsistency in roll.

Odyssey S2S TRI-HOT Putter Series: Technical Focus

The central design element of the S2S TRI-HOT series is the extreme forward shift of the center of gravity (CG). According to the manufacturer, this was achieved through a sophisticated multi-material construction. Aluminum and steel are used, supplemented by over 140 grams of tungsten, which has been strategically placed. The result of this construction is that more than 80 percent of the head weight lies below the topline.

This forward CG position allows for a different hosel placement: the shaft now enters the head directly at the topline and very close to the clubface. This is intended to reduce the need for shaft lean at address, resulting in a more intuitive and forgiving setup.

The insert and grooves optimize roll

To improve ball control, Odyssey relies on the Ai-DUAL insert, which was developed using artificial intelligence. The insert consists of two urethane layers: a soft outer layer and a firm inner layer. This combination is designed to ensure consistent ball speed across the entire face and optimize forward roll. This effect is enhanced by the new FRD Grooves (Forward Roll Design). The grooves are deeper, more aggressive, and feature a 19-degree angle that, in conjunction with the dual insert, promotes immediate forward roll of the ball.

The putters come equipped with a Black SL 120 shaft. This Tour-developed shaft with a PVD finish is heavier and stiffer than previous Odyssey shafts (SL 90) to work optimally with the head design. The grip is the New Pistol Plus Grip. It is medium-sized, features defined edges, and is designed to help golfers better perceive face alignment during the putting stroke.

Jailbird Cruiser: The Extended Version

The Jailbird Cruiser is offered as a special option for players who prefer a longer, balanced Putter setup. This model is 38 inches long as standard, features a heavier head, an even longer and heavier SL140 shaft, and a 17-inch grip.
