The challenges of golf in the cooler seasons are well known: Wind, cold and wet conditions can severely restrict freedom of movement and disrupt concentration. The sporting goods manufacturer Under Armour addresses these conditions with a clothing line that focuses on targeted layering and the use of specific technologies. We present the key pieces that are designed to help golfers perform at their usual level even in late fall and winter.
The be-all and end-all in low temperatures is the so-called onion principle, in which several layers with different functions are worn. Under Armour offers coordinated garments that store heat and at the same time wick away moisture.
The Tech 2.0 1/2 Zip layer serves as the fundamental layer. Its main task is to quickly wick away perspiration to keep the body dry and prevent it from cooling down. The breathable and quick-drying UA Tech fabric therefore forms the basis for protection against the cold. This layer is also equipped with anti-odor technology - a feature that ensures comfort over longer rounds of golf.
The mid-layer, whose primary function is insulation, is used on top:
When wind, heavy rain or sub-zero temperatures come into play, the outer layers are needed to provide effective protection from the elements.
The Driver Pro jacket combines several technologies for use in adverse conditions. It is equipped with UA Storm technology for water-repellent and breathable properties. At the heart of the insulation is the ColdGear Infrared lining, which absorbs and stores the body's own heat. This is complemented by 80g synthetic insulation. Particularly noteworthy for golf is the low-noise material, which is designed to minimize disturbing rustling noises during the swing.
The right clothing for the legs is often underestimated. The ColdGear Infrared Tapered thermal trousers rely on the technology that gives them their name, which retains heat without making the trousers look thick or heavy. The lightweight, durable stretch fabric, which is also water-repellent, guarantees unrestricted mobility. Details such as the elastic waistband with grip are designed to prevent the shirt from slipping out of the trousers and underline the sport-specific focus.
The Under Armour golf collection for the cold season is consistently tailored to the needs of golfers when temperatures drop. The combination of UA Storm (weather protection) and ColdGear Infrared (efficient warmth) in conjunction with high stretch content aims to extend the golf season into fall and winter without players having to compromise on freedom of movement or comfort.
