With the introduction of the new Callaway Quantum Driver series, the manufacturer presents a technological innovation in club construction. The focus is on the "Tri-Force Face" - a face laminate that complements the classic titanium construction. We take a look at the technical details of the five models and show which players the series was designed for.
The release of the Callaway Quantum Driver marks a significant change in the manufacturer's design approach. In initial presentations at Empordà Golf Club in Spain, it became clear that Callaway wants to go beyond the previous standards with the Quantum series. The aim: an optimized combination of ball speed and stability for golfers of different skill levels.
The key feature of the series is the Tri-Force Face. Instead of a conventional, one-piece titanium face, Callaway uses a three-piece composite structure for the Quantum Driver:
This design makes it possible to make the clubface thinner and lighter without compromising durability. The weight saved is specifically shifted to the edge areas (periphery) of the club head. This results in increased forgiveness for players. On off-center hits, the club head tends to twist less, which supports directional stability and distance on imprecise shots.
To meet the different requirements of golf, the series comprises five different versions of the Callaway Quantum Driver:
The versatile standard model for the broad target group. A sliding weight cartridge at the back of the head allows players to customize the ball curve (neutral to Draw).
This version has been developed specifically for golfers who frequently lose the ball to the right (for right-handers). A firm weighting in the heel makes it easier to close the clubface to promote a straighter ball flight.
A model for experienced players with high swing speeds. The more compact head generates less spin and enables targeted control of the ball flight (workability).
You can now pre-order the new Callaway Quantum Driver at All4Golf.
This variant forms a bridge for ambitious amateurs (e.g. in the 12-24 handicap range). It combines the more compact look and spin behavior of the Triple Diamond with a higher fault tolerance. The head is neutral and less demanding to play than the Tour-only model.
With a total weight reduced by around 17 grams, this model is aimed at people with rather low clubhead speed - such as many senior citizens or ladies. The low weight facilitates acceleration and helps to get the ball in the air faster.
The 360° carbon chassis - a body with a high carbon content - saves further weight, which is used to optimize the centre of gravity and spin. The acoustic tuning between the titanium body and the carbon crown ensures a rich, powerful sound that gives players direct feedback on the quality of ball contact.
The Callaway Quantum Driver shows an interesting approach to the material mix with the new Tri-Force Face. The series offers a suitable solution for almost every requirement profile, with the main focus on forgiveness.
Interested golfers can now pre-order the series from All4Golf. As with every new launch, a professional fitting is recommended to determine the optimum combination of head model, loft and shaft for your own swing.
