The Masters, one of the most prestigious golf tournaments in the world, is entering a new era of broadcasting from 2026. Amazon Prime Video, a global streaming giant, is joining as a new media partner. This move is an exciting development for the tournament and its fans. While the partnership mainly affects the US market, it underlines the growing importance of streaming services in sport and demonstrates how the Masters Committee continues to expand its presence in the digital world.
From the 2026 Masters, Amazon Prime Video will provide exclusive live coverage of the first two rounds. Specifically, the streaming service will broadcast on Thursday, April 9, and Friday, April 10, from 13:00 to 15:00 (local time, 19:00 to 21:00 CET). These four additional hours will fill a gap in previous coverage and give fans an even more comprehensive look at the action at Augusta. Next April, PGA Tour star Rory McIlroy will line up to defend his title after completing a career Grand Slam this year.
Amazon Prime Video will add to the tournament's long-standing and proven partnerships with US broadcasters ESPN and CBS. ESPN will continue its usual afternoon coverage from 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. ET, while CBS will continue its traditional weekend coverage. Additional streams will continue to be available via the official Masters website.
The deal is in line with Amazon's ambitious strategy to acquire prominent sports rights. The streaming service has already established itself in the NFL with "Thursday Night Football" and will also broadcast NBA games from the fall. The collaboration with Augusta National marks a significant coup and underlines Amazon's position as a serious player in the global sports rights market.
Fred Ridley, Chairman of Augusta National Golf Club, expressed his enthusiasm for the new partnership: "Working with Amazon in this capacity is an exciting opportunity for the Masters Tournament and its fans. We are proud of our long-standing partnerships with CBS Sports and ESPN... The addition of Amazon will only expand and enhance our ability to showcase and enjoy the tournament."
Jay Marine, the head of Prime Video U.S. and Global Sports, also emphasized the importance of the agreement: "It's an honor for all of us to become a broadcast partner of the Masters Tournament and provide four additional hours of coverage."
There is one important piece of information for golf fans in Germany: the broadcasting rights for the Masters will remain unchanged in this country. The tournament will continue to be broadcast exclusively by pay-TV channel Sky. The new partnership with Amazon therefore primarily affects the US market. However, the deal underlines the global appeal of the Masters, which is constantly looking for new ways to reach its audience.
