There are golf clubs that make history. The TaylorMade R7, introduced in 2004, is undoubtedly one of them. With over 30 victories worldwide - including the 2004 U.S. Open by Retief Goosen - it has become one of the most successful drivers in the company's history. Even more significantly, the R7 was the first Driver ever to be equipped with Movable Weight Technology - a development that fundamentally changed the understanding of adjustability in the entire golf industry.
A good two decades later, TaylorMade drew on this legacy. The TaylorMade R7 Quad Mini Driver is a tribute to its legendary predecessor - and at the same time much more than a nostalgic comeback. "The R7 Quad Mini Driver is one of those projects that sparked enthusiasm from the very beginning. The opportunity to bring back one of the most iconic clubs in TaylorMade history was a dream come true," says Chandler Carr, Product Manager at TaylorMade.
Anyone who follows the PGA Tour closely will have noticed: Mini-Drivers are no longer a niche product. Around 20 professionals regularly use them in tournaments - valued for their combination of control and versatility. Interest is also growing steadily among amateur players.
TaylorMade recognized this trend early on and responded with its most ambitious contribution to the category to date: the R7 Quad Mini Driver - the brand's first fully adjustable Mini-Driver.
At the heart of the R7 Quad Mini-Driver is the revised Quad weight system - a direct development of the technology that once made the original R7 so successful. Four openings in the club head - two at the back, one each at the toe and heel - accommodate a total of four movable weights: two heavy (13g each) and two light (4g each). The targeted distribution of these weights allows the center of gravity, spin, trajectory and shot shape to be individually adjusted.
The logic behind this is clear: if the heavy weights are shifted to the front, the result is a penetrating, flat ball flight - ideal for maximum distance. Shifting them to the rear increases the launch angle and makes the ball easier to play from the ground. Additional weights are available separately for golfers who want even more flexibility.
A key development goal for the R7 Quad Mini Driver was to reduce mass in the upper area of the club head. The solution: a satin-finished Infinity Carbon Crown, which not only saves weight, but also shifts it to more effective positions within the head - for optimized mass distribution and a more favourable centre of gravity.
The crown also makes a strong visual impression: its clear, elegant profile conveys confidence in alignment and radiates the calmness that golfers need in the address position.

Despite its compact dimensions (305 cc head volume), the R7 Quad Mini Driver is equipped with the same core technologies that have characterized TaylorMade clubs for years.
Twist Face corrects the club face tilt at typical miss-hit points - outside (toe) and inside (heel) - and thus noticeably reduces the dispersion of off-center hits.
Speed Pocket is a slit in the lower area of the clubface that increases its flexibility and rebound at impact. The result: more ball speed and a higher launch angle - especially on hits in the lower area of the clubface, where many errors occur.
Together, the two technologies offer versatility far beyond what you would expect from a compact clubhead.

TaylorMade also relies on targeted development work for the component package. The standard Fujikura Speeder MD (Mini Driver) shaft was specially designed for this club: It lowers the spin rate and maximizes stability - without adding weight. It is available in three flex options: Extra Stiff (6X), Stiff (6S) and Regular (5R).
The Golf Pride Z-Grip Black/Red (52g, 0.600) is used as the standard grip - a proven choice that ensures a secure feel in any playing situation.
Visually, the R7 Quad Mini Driver deliberately follows the design of the original: The black club head features white, red and yellow accents. The head cover also quotes the classic R7 logo.

The R7 Quad Mini Driver is not a club for everyone - and that is meant as a compliment. It is aimed at golfers who want more control on narrow holes than with a standard Driver without sacrificing distance. Those who often have to act from difficult positions or want to use the club from the Fairway will find it a convincing option.
Thanks to its wide range of adjustment options, it is particularly suitable for players who want to shape their ball flight in a targeted manner - whether to correct a weak point or to optimize their personal playing style. The compact club head size of 305 cc provides more control and precision than a classic Driver, but also requires a certain degree of accuracy.
The TaylorMade R7 Quad Mini-Driver is more than just a nostalgic throwback. It combines the engineering power of modern TaylorMade technology with the charm of a cult model - and delivers a club that is both technically and visually impressive. Anyone looking for versatility, adjustability and proven technology in a compact package will want to seriously consider the R7 Quad Mini Driver.
