TaylorMade kicks off the 2026 golf season with a technological first. Thanks to an all-new “microcoating” technology, the manufacturer promises the most consistent Tour balls to date for all players. While the TP5, as the softest 5-layer ball, focuses on maximum control, the new TP5x breaks speed records. We’ve analyzed the technical specifications and innovations.
It’s the only piece of equipment used on every single shot: the golf ball. But while clubheads are milled to the micrometer, the coating on golf balls was long considered a necessary evil that could negatively affect aerodynamics. With the introduction of the new TP5 and TP5x models for 2026, TaylorMade claims to have solved this problem for all golfers.

The core innovation of the new series is what’s known as microcoating technology. Until now, paint tended to pool unevenly in the dimples (the small indentations on the surface of the golf ball) —an effect that experts refer to as “paint pooling.”
Thanks to the new, high-precision process, the paint is applied so thinly and precisely that the aerodynamic properties of the dimples remain exactly as they were developed in the lab. The result: a significantly more consistent ball flight and tighter dispersion, since every ball has exactly the same aerodynamic signature—a decisive advantage for precise players.

The new TP5 remains the flagship choice for anyone who prioritizes a soft feel at impact. TaylorMade has incorporated the largest core in the company’s history into this model. This core ensures a shorter contact time at impact, which in turn optimizes energy transfer at high swing speeds.
For golfers looking to gain every extra meter, the TP5x has been completely reengineered. It is officially the fastest 5-layer ball in the TaylorMade lineup.
In addition to the technical specs under the hood, TaylorMade continues to set the standard in design to support performance on the green:

With the 2026 series, TaylorMade demonstrates that innovation often lies in the details of manufacturing. The microcoating technology addresses a previously “invisible” problem and offers a new level of predictability. The new models will be available for pre-order starting February 2, 2026, and will be available at All4Golf starting February 12. Prices are approximately 65 euros for the standard models and 68 euros for the variants with visual technology (Stripe/pix).
