Viktor Hovland won the 2026 Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut—his first PGA Tour title in 15 months. The Norwegian prevailed over world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler in a playoff and secured the winner’s check of $3,600,000.

The tournament turned into a thrilling duel between Hovland and Scheffler. After 72 holes, both players were tied at 21 under Par, before a rain delay of more than 80 minutes pushed play to Monday morning. On the par-4 18th hole, Hovland sank a 7-foot Birdie putt, while Scheffler missed his attempt from just under a meter past the hole. For Hovland, it was his eighth victory on the PGA Tour and the tenth of his career worldwide—his first title since the Valspar Championship in March 2025.

Hovland’s victory is also historically significant: He is the first Norwegian to win the Travelers Championship and the first international winner at Cromwell since Russell Knox in 2016. With this victory, he climbs 36 spots in the FedEx Cup standings to No. 20—putting him in prime position to qualify for the Tour Championship.
For Scheffler, this marks his fourth second-place finish of the 2026 season, having already celebrated his only victory of the season at The American Express. His 35 consecutive top-25 finishes are the second-highest total in the past 40 years—surpassed only by Tiger Woods’ 38.
