Nelly Korda has once again been named Player of the Year on the LPGA Tour. The 28-year-old received the Rolex Player of the Year Award for the second time, following her win in 2024. This also brings her closer to induction into the LPGA Hall of Fame: With 26 points, she is now just one point shy of the required threshold of 27. In addition, there is a minimum performance requirement.
Korda’s victory was confirmed after Haeran Ryu withdrew from contention due to injury and Miyu Yamashita and Jeeno Thitikul missed the registration deadline for The ANNIKA. As a result, her competitors no longer had any chance of catching up to Korda in the remaining tournaments, the LPGA announced.
Korda won four tournaments this season, including the two majors, the Chevron Championship and the U.S. Women’s Open. She also claimed victory at the weather-shortened Tournament of Champions and the Riviera Maya Open. At the start of the season, she finished six consecutive tournaments either as the winner or in second place.
At the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in June, Korda spoke about the prospect of induction into the Hall of Fame. “I think that would be an incredible achievement and definitely one of the best accomplishments of my career,” she said, according to Golf Digest. With one more victory on the LPGA Tour, she could secure the point she needs.
Korda is not eligible for the Vare Trophy—the award for the lowest scoring average—this year. The LPGA cites her failure to meet the minimum number of rounds played as the reason. Despite missing out on this award, she now tops the Tour honors for the second time: The official award will be presented on November 17 at the Rolex LPGA Awards.
