January 2026 marks a historic change. Sky's long-standing monopoly on the major Tours will come to an end. Find out who holds the golf TV rights in Germany in 2026 and where you can watch the PGA Tour, Majors and the Ryder Cup in our analysis.
From January 15, 2026, the green will turn bright pink at Deutsche Telekom. With the acquisition of a comprehensive rights package until 2029, MagentaTV has secured the exclusive broadcasting rights for the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour on German television. Around 131 tournaments will be broadcast live each year on the new channels "MS Golf 1" and "MS Golf 2".
Deutsche Telekom scored a special coup with the Ryder Cup: the prestigious duel will be shown exclusively on Magenta in 2027 and 2029. Arnim Butzen, Head of TV at Telekom, emphasizes: "With this package, we are offering Germany's most comprehensive live golf service ever" (source: Telekom).
It's not just the Golf TV rights 2026 that are moving, the staff are changing too. Gregor Biernath, the voice of Sky for many years, is leading the new team: "We can innovate golf at MagentaTV," says Biernath. The team also includes experts such as former DP World Tour pro Bernd Ritthammer and the Zunker brothers ("Die Golf Show").

Despite the loss of the weekly Tours, Sky remains indispensable for Major fans. The channel will retain all four men's majors and the women's majors (LPGA/LET). In response to the departure of the PGA Tour, Sky has also acquired the rights to the LIV Golf League and the Asian Tour. Hans Gabbe, Senior Vice President of Sports Rights at Sky Deutschland, is combative: "With the long-term exclusive rights to all four men's majors [...] Sky Sport Golf will continue to be the first port of call for all golf fans in Germany in the future"
