The fourth matchday of the German Golf League (DGL), presented by All4Golf, brings the first decisive results amid record-breaking heat in Frankfurt (1st Bundesliga South) and Hubbelrath (1st Bundesliga North). The women’s teams from Hamburg, St. Leon-Rot, and Stuttgart, as well as the men’s teams from Hubbelrath and Berlin-Wannsee, have secured their spots in the Final Four (August 1–2, GC München-Riedhof).
Following the fourth DGL match day at the Frankfurt GC, all questions regarding the Final Four in the Women’s 1st Bundesliga South have been settled. With a victory in temperatures just below the 40-degree mark, German team champion St. Leon-Rot secured its spot in the Final Four at Riedhof (August 1–2) well in advance. “We’ve made great strides in the development of our entire team, and we’re very proud of that,” said SLR coach Sebastian Buhl. In addition to the defending champions, the women from Stuttgart have also secured their spot at Riedhof after once again finishing second in Round Four in Frankfurt—this time, however, by a very narrow margin over the hosts. “Our women put in a strong performance. It’s a shame that in the end they only managed third place and missed second place by a hair. Still, the team can be proud of their performance,” summarized Christoph Kucharsky, FGC’s sports director. At the bottom of the standings, the women from Fürth were once again left with last place. Relegation is all but certain for the team from Middle Franconia. Coach Michael Heffner: “Then we’ll just have to make another run at it next year in the second division.” Next match day: July 18–19 at the Munich Golf Club.
The women from Hamburg GC Falkenstein bounced back well from their minor slip-up on the third matchday and, in DGL Round Four in Hubbelrath, secured their third victory of the day (+5), finishing ahead of Berlin-Wannsee (+17) and the hosts (+27). “We played extremely well across the board this weekend and deserved to win. Now we want to advance to the Final Four as the top team in the North Division,” explained Hamburg’s coach Luis Schmid. The women from G&LC Berlin-Wannsee want to capitalize on their remaining home-course advantage and also make it to the Riedhof. “We didn’t take it for granted at the start of the season that we’d be in second place with a two-point lead heading into the fifth matchday,” said Wannsee coach Daniel Mertl. After Round Four, it’s clear who will be relegated from the 1st Bundesliga North: The women from Düsseldorf finished in last place in Hubbelrath and must return to the lower division after just one year in the top flight. Hösels’ women are safe and can “head into the final matchday relaxed,” said captain Isabel Gadea. Next match day: July 18–19 at the G&LC Berlin-Wannsee.

The team relegated from the Men’s 1st Bundesliga South has been determined. During their away match in Frankfurt—where the foursomes on Saturday were also canceled due to high temperatures—GC Augsburg once again finished in last place. As a result, safety is no longer within reach for the Swabians. In Round 4 of the DGL, GC St. Leon-Rot (-19) secured the victory ahead of Habsberg (-14) and host Frankfurt (+1). The latter two now have 14 points each and will battle it out on the fifth matchday for the second spot in the Final Four, as Team SLR is virtually unassailable at the top. “We wanted to make a statement after our less-than-successful last match day. The guys pulled it off brilliantly,” said Marco Schmuck. The SLR coach also celebrated Tim Wiedemeyer’s victory, who won the European Championship taking place concurrently in Finland and secured a spot in the 2026 Open Championship. Wiedemeyer will compete for St. Leon-Rot in the Final Four at the latest and vie for the title in German team golf. Next match day: July 18–19 at the Munich Golf Club.
While the top of the standings is all but decided, the battle to avoid relegation remains exciting in the Men’s 1st Bundesliga North. GC Hubbelrath (-10) capitalized on its home-course advantage on the fourth DGL match day and secured the full five points for the fourth time this season. “20 points after four match days—we’re naturally proud of that. It was a special victory because it came in the club’s 65th anniversary year. As always, we put in a solid team performance, especially in the heat,” said Hubbelrath coach Alexander Schmitt, praising his team. With their second-place finish, the men from G&LC Berlin-Wannsee (Even) also cemented their second-place standing in the standings and can now plan for the Final Four at Riedhof as well. Things remain exciting at the bottom of the standings, however: Champions Hösel (+11), where veteran Marcel Zillekens shot a hole-in-one in the singles one day before his 38th birthday, finished just ahead of Hamburg this time and will face off against Berliner GC Stolper Heide (both with 7 points) on the final match day in a battle to avoid relegation. Next match day: July 18–19 at G&LC Berlin-Wannsee.

After five matchdays in the 1st Bundesliga North and South, the top two teams from each division will qualify for the Final Four, where the 2026 German Team Champions will be determined in a match play format on August 1–2 at the GC München-Riedhof course.
