Charlie Woods Signs with TaylorMade and Finishes Eighth at the Junior Players

Charlie Woods wrapped up an eventful weekend with a sporting success and an important step off the course. The 17-year-old tied for eighth place at the Junior PLAYERS Championship on the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass. Just a few days earlier, TaylorMade had announced its new partnership with the son of golf legend Tiger Woods.

Woods finished the three-round tournament in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, with a total of 215 strokes and a score of 1 under Par. His rounds of 71, 73, and 71 earned him his first top-10 finish at an AJGA (American Junior Golf Association) tournament in the 2026 season. JP Lynch from Austin, Texas, won the tournament at 8 under Par.

For Woods, this result also marked his best finish at a nationally contested junior tournament since his victory at the 2025 Team TaylorMade Invitational. After a mixed season, he thus made a strong sporting statement. In the final round, Woods again shot a 71, securing his place in the top 10.

TaylorMade Officially Adds Woods to Its Athlete Roster

TaylorMade announced its partnership with Woods on Friday, September 4, 2026. The agreement is structured as a NIL partnership. NIL stands for “Name, Image, and Likeness” and refers to the commercialization of an athlete’s personal rights—that is, their name, image, and public identity.

This means it’s not just about providing him with golf clubs. TaylorMade is officially adding Woods to its athlete team and, according to the company, plans to support him throughout his time in junior golf and as he transitions to college golf. Details regarding the financial terms or the duration of the agreement were not disclosed.

“Having TaylorMade by my side has been great. The company has supported me tremendously over the past year, and I’m very excited to now be an official part of Team TaylorMade. Many great players have been part of this team, and I’m looking forward to what lies ahead,” Woods said, according to TaylorMade’s press release.

David Abeles, CEO and President of TaylorMade Golf, attributed the signing to Woods’ athletic development and his competitive spirit. “We build our athlete team around players who are driven by golf and have an extraordinary desire to compete at the highest level. Charlie embodies that every time he steps up to the tee,” said Abeles. The evolution of Woods’ game over the past few years speaks for itself, the TaylorMade CEO added.

Successful Years in Junior Golf

Woods is entering his senior year at the Benjamin School in North Palm Beach, Florida. In 2027, he is set to play college golf for Florida State University. Along the way, the young player has already made his mark at several major junior tournaments.

Woods celebrated his most significant victory to date in 2025 at the Team TaylorMade Invitational on the Black Course at Streamsong Resort. He won by a margin of three strokes. According to TaylorMade, four of the top five players in the AJGA rankings were among the field at the time.

In addition, Woods achieved a top-10 finish at the Boys Junior PGA Championship and a top-20 finish at the Rolex Tournament of Champions in 2025. He qualified for the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship three years in a row. Woods was also successful as a team player: The Benjamin School won the Florida High School Championship with him in 2023 and 2025.

Connection to Tiger Woods

The new partnership is particularly noteworthy because TaylorMade has been closely associated with Tiger Woods for years. Charlie Woods has been using the brand’s equipment for quite some time. With this official NIL agreement, that existing connection is now becoming a formal partnership.

His own path is increasingly taking center stage. While he has attracted an exceptionally high level of public attention from the start due to his last name, his athletic development—including his victory at the Team TaylorMade Invitational and now his eighth-place finish at Sawgrass—speaks for itself regarding his growing stature in international junior golf.

According to TaylorMade, Woods currently uses a Qi4D Driver with a 10.5-degree loft, a Qi4D 3-Wood with a 15-degree loft, and a Qi4D 7-Wood with a 21-degree loft. For his iron set, he combines P·7CB 3- and 4-irons with P·7TW irons from the 5-iron through the pitching wedge. He also uses MG5 wedges with 56- and 60-degree lofts, as well as the TP5x golf ball.
