England's Daniel Brown could cause a first at this year's BMW International Open (July 1-5, 2026, Golfclub München Eichenried). Never before in the tournament's 37-year history has a player successfully defended the title at Germany's most prestigious golf tournament. However, Brown will be up against strong competition on his mission, including other players who have already won in Munich: Ewen Ferguson, Pablo Larrazábal, Martin Kaymer and Thriston Lawrence also have their sights set on another title. Visitors can also look forward to the return of the "Launch Control" long drive event and the BMW International Open debut of golf creator Brad Dalke, who has already teed off at the Masters.
Willett's extremely successful career was launched at the BMW International Open in 2012, when he celebrated his first victory on the European Tour (now the DP World Tour) at the age of 24. Four years later, the Englishman achieved his greatest triumph at the Masters, followed by an emotional victory at his "home game", the 2019 BMW PGA Championship in England. Willett joins Sergio García (ESP, 2017) and Patrick Reed (USA, 2018) as the third holder of a Green Jacket to tee off in Munich this year.
With just three strokes lost in the entire tournament, Brown deservedly secured the title at last year's BMW International Open. This is also underlined by his overall score of 22 under Par: in the long history of the tournament, only four winners have achieved a better result.
Ferguson triumphed in Munich in 2025 and Lawrence was crowned winner in 2024, meaning that the title winners of the past three years can be seen at Golfclub München Eichenried. Kaymer (2008) and Larrazábal (2011 & 2015) may have lifted the trophy some time ago, but both have a firm place in tournament history. Kaymer is the youngest and only German winner, while the Spaniard is the record champion with two titles - alongside Paul Azinger (USA, 1990 & 1992), Thomas Bjørn (DEN, 2000 & 2002) and Henrik Stenson (SWE, 2006 & 2016).

This year, visitors can once again look forward to monster drives and an energetic atmosphere when the grandstands on the 18th green are transformed into a long-drive arena: "Launch Control" is back. There will be a spectacular duel early on Saturday evening (July 4) after the end of the third round (around 5:30 pm) when the 2022 Long Drive World Champion, Martin Borgmeier from Germany, goes head-to-head with the 2025 World Champion, Zack Holton from the USA. Surprise guests will also play their part in a spectacular golf event of a different kind that must be experienced.
Admission is free from 4 p.m. on the day, so sports fans can experience "Launch Control" and the final of the third round for free.
His golf videos on YouTube, Instagram and TikTok are viewed millions of times worldwide. He can now be seen live at the BMW International Open 2026: American Brad Dalke will tee off in Munich with a wild card. Dalke is not to be underestimated in sporting terms. in 2016, he reached the final of the U.S. Amateur Championship and secured a starting place at the 2017 Masters. Also in 2017, he made a significant contribution to the University of Oklahoma's college team winning the 2017 NCAA National Championship. Dalke's ever-growing fan base in Germany can look forward to experiencing the 28-year-old's first appearance at a professional golf event in Europe.
