Black and gold—this combination has a long tradition in sports. Vokey Design brings it to life with the new SM11 Black Vapor Wedges: a jet-black clubhead is paired with gold accents on the Vokey Design badge, the BV Wings logo, and the bounce number. The result is a Wedge that immediately catches the eye on the course—yet doesn’t come across as flashy.
Technically, the finish is based on the same Titanium Carbide Vapor process that Titleist also uses for the T-Series Black Vapor Irons: The material is vaporized in a vacuum and permanently bonds to the clubhead. The surface is thus not only visually appealing but also resistant to scratches and fingerprints—a practical advantage, since black surfaces are known to show signs of wear more easily than Chrome.
The look is rounded out by a Dynamic Gold Wedge Onyx shaft and a gold Golf Pride Vokey Z Cord grip — creating a harmonious overall appearance from the grip to the sole.
The most interesting feature of the SM11 Black Vapor Wedges isn’t found on the clubface, but on the hosel: three precisely engraved lines that Vokey calls Flight Lines. They are the heart of this edition—and potentially its greatest benefit for golfers looking to specifically improve their short game.
The idea behind it is as simple as it is effective: Each of the three lines represents a specific type of shot. By aligning the corresponding line with the tip of the clubhead at address, you automatically set the shaft angle and clubface to the optimal position for that particular shot.
The system was developed in collaboration with short game coach Parker McLachlin, who has worked with many of the world’s best Wedge players. His observation: The best players align their Wedges in very similar ways for different shots. Flight Lines makes this expert knowledge accessible to everyone—without any additional aids, right on the club itself.
The Black Vapor Edition is built entirely on the SM11 platform, which Titleist introduced in early 2026. Anyone familiar with the standard SM11 knows what to expect—and for those who aren’t yet familiar with it, here’s an overview of the most important technological innovations compared to the predecessor model, the SM10.
Consistent CG Positioning Across Lofts: In earlier generations of Vokey wedges, the position of the center of gravity (CG) within the same loft varied depending on the selected grind—due to different sole geometries. With the SM11, the CG position within a given loft is now identical regardless of the grind. This means that golfers can choose their grind based solely on their swing type and course conditions without having to compromise on flight characteristics.
Progressive CG placement across the set: With lower lofts, the center of gravity sits lower and closer to the clubface—allowing the Wedges to integrate better with the Irons. With higher lofts, the CG moves higher and closer to the heel, promoting a controlled, lower flight on sand and lob shots.
New Directional Face Texture: The SM11’s clubface features a new, directional surface texture that keeps the ball on the face longer. More contact time means the grooves have a greater influence on spin—resulting in more reliable spin, especially on delicate approaches to the green.
5% more groove volume compared to the SM10: The new Spin Milled Grooves are machined with greater precision and offer more volume to more effectively clear away grass, sand, and moisture. This pays off especially from the Rough or in wet course conditions.
The SM11 Black Vapor Wedges are available in ten standard configurations, all ranging from 54 to 60 degrees. Those who prefer different loft or grind combinations can access the entire SM11 range from 48 to 60 degrees via custom order—including all grinds: F, M, S, D, K, and T. Stock models are available exclusively for right-handers; custom-made clubs for left-handed players are available upon request.
The Vokey SM11 Black Vapor Wedges are now available worldwide. The suggested retail price is $249 per Wedge —which is $50 more than the standard SM11 model.
What justifies this premium? The premium finish with gold accents, the Dynamic Gold Onyx shaft, the exclusive Z Cord grip, and, above all, the Flight Lines as a built-in setup system. For those who were already considering the SM11 and value aesthetics and additional on-course aids, this is a well-rounded package.

The Vokey SM11 Black Vapor Wedges appeal to two groups: golfers who view their Wedge as a statement club—and those who want to specifically work on their short game.
For the latter, the Flight Lines offer real added value: no accessories, no extra effort, no adjustment period. The reference lines are permanently engraved and help you find the correct position for every type of shot right from the start. This can make a noticeable difference, especially for golfers with mid-range handicaps who want to reduce their mistakes around the green.
If you’re unsure about which grind to choose, you should use the Vokey Wedge Selector at vokey.com—or better yet, schedule a professional fitting appointment. After all, the best Wedge is the one that suits your swing, your game, and your course.
