The TaylorMade Spider series has been a staple on greens around the world for years. With the latest addition, the Spider ZT Black, TaylorMade now wants to go one step further. The abbreviation "ZT" stands for "Zero Torque" - a concept designed to minimize clubface rotation during the Putter and help golfers achieve greater consistency. We have analyzed what is behind this technology and who the new series was designed for.
The name says it all with the new series. While many putter models - such as the classic Spider line - still have silver elements framing the face, TaylorMade takes a different approach with the Spider ZT Black. The entire club head is consistently black. This deep black color extends across the entire construction; even the clubface is presented in a uniform, clean black. As a visual trademark, the back of the Putter has the classic Spider look in blue, which gives the club head an unmistakable look. The high-quality PVD coating also ensures that you benefit from a clean, uniform look at the address position, which minimizes distracting reflections on the green.
The core of the Spider ZT Black lies in its "low-torque" construction. By drilling the KBS putter shaft close to the center of gravity directly towards the tip, a more stable, "toe-up" oriented face is created. This reduces the need for you to keep the clubface straight at impact through small wrist manipulations.
This stability is supported by a material combination of high-density stainless steel and lightweight aluminum, which generates a high moment of inertia (MOI). Should you not hit the ball perfectly in the center, the Putt remains much more forgiving. Intuitive alignment is ensured by the "Milled True Path™ Alignment", in which milled lines across the width of the ball help to optimally position the ball in relation to the center of the clubface. A "Pure Roll" insert made of Surlyn and aluminum with 45-degree grooves is also designed to ensure a fast, clean forward spin of your ball.

TaylorMade offers the model in two main versions to suit different needs on the green:

The new Spider ZT Black is not just a facelift, but a technological answer to the most common problem on the putter green: instability. While the standard model should convince many players with its "toe-up" approach, the counterbalance version is a serious option for anyone looking for maximum control in pressure situations.
Note: Please note that the series is available in different lengths and versions. Custom adjustments regarding length and grip can be made individually.
