Following the previously qualified Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood, Robert MacIntyre and Tyrrell Hatton have now also secured a permanent place in the European team for the 2025 Ryder Cup. This means that five of the six automatic qualifiers have been confirmed, while the battle for the last remaining place is entering the decisive phase.
For Robert MacIntyre, participation in the 2025 Ryder Cup is the second of his career. He sealed his automatic qualification with an impressive second place at the BMW Championship, which secured him one of the coveted places on the European team.
Tyrrell Hatton, meanwhile, will be celebrating his fourth consecutive Ryder Cup appearance. The Englishman has performed strongly since the start of the qualifying period, recording two victories and two further top-five finishes in that time, which also earned him automatic qualification.

The battle for the last remaining spot on the team has not yet been decided. Shane Lowry currently holds this position. But Rasmus Højgaard still has a chance of overtaking him if he scores the required points at the Betfred British Masters.
Captain Luke Donald will take advantage of the tension and announce his final twelve-man team on September 1. The six players he will bring into the team via captain's picks will also be announced then. Among the potential candidates for a wild card are names such as Sepp Straka, Ludvig Åberg, Viktor Hovland, Matt Fitzpatrick and Jon Rahm.
