Two more players, J.J. Spaun and Xander Schauffele, have qualified for the US team at the 2025 Ryder Cup , joining Scottie Scheffler. The team will be led by Captain Keegan Bradley and will compete to reclaim the trophy at the Bethpage Black Course in Farmingdale, New York from September 26-28.
It will be 34-year-old J.J. Spaun's first participation in the Ryder Cup. His qualification in second place on the points list is the result of an outstanding year , which he crowned with victory at the U.S. Open. He also had three second places and six top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour. He secured the decisive points for his qualification with second place at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

Xander Schauffele, on the other hand, already has Ryder Cup experience. He qualifies for his third consecutive participation. Above all, Schauffele had a very successful 2024, in which he won two major titles: the PGA Championship and the Open Championship. His record in the Ryder Cup so far is 4-4-0 and he is motivated: "The Ryder Cup is like no other event in golf and I'm incredibly proud to have qualified for my third US team appearance," said Schauffele. He went on to emphasize that Bethpage Black will provide a "challenging test" as the team attempts to reclaim the trophy against what is "sure to be a very skilled European team."
After Spaun and Schauffele qualify, three automatic spots on the U.S. team remain up for grabs. These will be decided after the BMW Championship in Baltimore, Maryland. The players currently holding the remaining qualifying spots are Russell Henley, Bryson DeChambeau and Harris English. The remaining six team members will ultimately be selected by Captain Keegan Bradley on Wednesday, August 27, as "Captain's Picks".
