PXG Lightning Metalwoods: Woods Taken to a New Level

The Technology Behind It

At the heart of the entire Lightning family is what’s known as Frequency Tuned Face technology. Using vibration analysis—a method more commonly associated with aircraft engineering—PXG engineers have mapped how a clubface naturally vibrates at impact. The result: The clubface is tuned so precisely that it vibrates exactly at the moment of ball compression, thereby maximizing energy transfer. In practice, this means greater ball speed and more distance—across a larger area of the clubhead.

The system is complemented by the Spined Sole Design, which structurally reinforces the sole and dampens unwanted vibrations. Energy is channeled more effectively into the ball, and the feel at impact is clearer. The carbon chassis —with up to 84 percent more carbon content than the previous model—lowers the center of gravity and increases the moment of inertia (MOI). Combined with a Laser-Etched Face (a fine microtexture on the clubface that stabilizes spin even in wet conditions) and the Precision Weighting System (adjustable weights for Draw or Fade bias), the result is a family of woods that represents the highest level of technology PXG has ever offered.

Drivers: Four Models for Every Type of Golfer

Fairwaywood: Precision from the Tee and the Fairway

The PXG Lightning Fairwaywood features a clubface that is 12.5 percent thinner at the edge than its predecessor, the Black Ops—allowing for about 4 percent more flex at impact. The result: faster ball speed even on off-center hits.

The Proprietary Face Structure is particularly ingenious: each loft is given a curvature optimized specifically for that loft. Lower lofts (more power, higher ball speed) feature a more pronounced crown curve for directional control, while higher lofts have a flatter geometry for a consistent launch and reliable distance progression. Six loft options are available: from 3 (15°) to 11 (27°). An adjustable hosel with three weight slots allows for further fine-tuning.

PXG 0311 GEN8 Irons: Irons That Set the Standard

What’s new compared to the GEN7 generation?

The key innovation of the GEN8 line is the Dual Perimeter Weighting System. Unlike its predecessor, the GEN7—where the weight was positioned centrally behind the face—the GEN8 allows the heel and toe weights to be adjusted independently in 1-gram increments from 2 to 12 grams.
