Ping is setting new standards in wedge technology with the introduction of the PING s259 wedges. The successors to the proven s159 series have been consistently further developed to offer golfers maximum versatility around the green. We present the technical features and target groups of the new PING s259 Wedge series.
The foundation of the PING s259 Wedges is a head made of 8620 carbon steel. This material guarantees first-class feedback at impact. A decisive innovation is the enlarged elastomer insert behind the clubface. This component optimizes vibration damping and provides the soft, controlled feel that Tour players expect from a modern Ping s259 Wedge.

Ping has perfected the surface structure for the s259 series. The combination of precisely milled grooves (wheel-cut grooves) and the innovative face-blast technology maximizes the friction between ball and club face.
Depending on the loft, the Ping s259 Wedge offers specific technical advantages:
Thanks to the Hydropearl 2.0 Chrome coating, performance remains stable even in wet conditions. Alternatively, the Ping s259 Wedge is available in the new matte Midnight finish, which minimizes glare and is particularly durable.
With 25 different loft/grind combinations, the PING s259 Wedges cover every swing type. The optimizations on the T- and E-grind in particular show the detailed work that has gone into the new series.
| Grind | Characteristics of the PING s259 Wedge | Target group / ground conditions | Available lofts |
|---|---|---|---|
| S | The all-rounder with heel and trail edge relief. Mid-bounce design. | Wide target group; suits many swing types and conditions. | 46°, 48°, 50°, 52°, 54°, 56°, 58°, 60° |
| H | Versatile half-moon design (inspired by Ping Wrx). | Players with a steeper attacking angle; ideal in softer conditions. | 54°, 56°, 58°, 60° |
| B | Wide, flat sole with low bounce profile. | Flat attack angles; hard ground conditions; for shots with a straight clubface. | 58°, 60° |
| T | Aggressive grind with the lowest bounce (6°). | Technically experienced players; hard surfaces and "tight lies". | 58°, 60°, 62° |
| W | Maximum width and lots of bounce for maximum forgiveness. | Steep attack angles; lots of shaft lean; soft ground or deep Rough. | 50°, 52°, 54°, 56°, 58°, 60° |
| E | Inspired by the legendary Eye2 design with "Dished" sole. | Specialists for Bunker and high short game from difficult positions. | 58°, 60° |
The new Ping Dyla-Grip is a functional highlight. This is specially extended by approx. 1.9 cm to meet the requirements of a Wedge. Discreet markings on the grip serve as reference points for golfers to "grip down". This significantly increases the variability and precision when dosing the flight curves.
The Ping s259 Wedges are aimed at a differentiated target group:
With the support of the PING WebFit Wedge App, golfers can quickly find the right setup to take their short game to the next level with the new PING s259 Wedges.
