Laura Fünfstück wins her first tournament on the Ladies European Tour at the PIF Championship. The 30-year-old won at the Centurion Club in London, England, with a total of ten under Par and a one-stroke lead over Daniela Darquea (Ecuador). Anne van Dam (-8) from the Netherlands came third. Just one shot behind her, Olivia Cowan rounded off the good German result. Fünfstück receives a good 190,000 euros for her success.
The Hessian also climbs to eleventh place in the Ladies European Tour season rankings. Fünfstück had to wait a long time for the biggest success of her career to date. The tournament in London was her 115th start on the Ladies European Tour. She had already come close to her first success a few times, but it was only now that it was to happen. She had led by three shots overnight, but on the final round it was a Birdie on the last hole that secured her triumph.

"At the start of the day I said to myself that I wanted to earn this today and I did that on the back nine holes," admitted Fünfstück after the round. "I was so nervous that I only ate half a sausage for breakfast. Now I'm hungry. I'm so happy, I'm so satisfied. That was fun," the winner continued.
She then also reflected on the road to her success and beyond: "Hopefully we're just getting started. It's a huge validation because everyone defines themselves by whether they're a Tour winner or not. There are parts of me that believed in it and I can compete in some ways, but I wouldn't go into tournaments thinking of myself as a winner. I know I'm competitive enough to play my way into the top group and now that I've done it, having been so close before, I know I can do it and hopefully I can back myself a bit more in the future."
