The Amundi German Masters, the only Ladies European Tour tournament in Germany, will kick off on Thursday, June 26, 2025. In addition to Hamburg local hero Esther Henseleit, shooting star Helen Briem and defending champion Alexandra Försterling will also be competing on the Green Eagle Golf Courses. A total of 300,000 euros in prize money is at stake. The fact that several German pros are among the favorites will hopefully attract many spectators and will also make tournament director Dirk Glittenberg particularly happy.
"The impressive performances of German professional golfers around the world are creating an enthusiastic atmosphere for women's golf - and thus also increasing the anticipation for the only professional women's event in Germany," says Glittenberg, who is also Managing Director of the organizer U.COM Event. "In sporting terms, this premiere in Hamburg is unique, and not just thanks to local hero Esther Henseleit. At the heart of the golf season in Germany before the summer vacations, we are also looking forward to many spectators who want to see the top stars up close."
Hopes of a German player winning the final on Sunday in front of her home fans are justified. In addition to the strong trio of Henseleit, 26, Försterling, 25, and Briem, 19, who already have seven LET victories between them despite their young age, German starters such as Chiara Noja, Sophie Witt, Laura Fünfstück and Patricia Isabel Schmidt also believe they have a good chance of success. This quartet knows how to play for an LET title right to the end, with Noja and Schmidt having already triumphed.
Eleven-time LET winner Lee-Anne Pace from South Africa, Pia Babnik from Slovenia, Nuria Iturrioz from Spain, Anne-Lise Caudal from France and Thailand's Trichat Cheenglab, who won the LET Order of Merit in 2023, all have plenty of title experience. Special attention will also be paid to the Tour's great talents who are taking the first steps towards a hoped-for global career - and want to take an example from Sweden's Maja Stark, who won the inaugural Amundi German Masters in 2022 and was crowned Major winner at the US Women's Open a few weeks ago.
Top talent Helen Briem, who proved her good form last week with second place in Tenerife, will be joined by other young stars such as 21-year-old Spaniard Carla Bernat Escuder, who won the Augusta National Women's Amateur in April with a strong 68 on the famous Masters course, and deaf Indian Diksha Dagar, who won on the LET at 18 and is now one of the Tour's established players at the age of just24. Four German amateurs will also get the chance to make a big appearance at the end of June. In addition to Lara Sophie Görlich, who won the Amundi German Masters Junior Qualifier by Esther Henseleit, Hamburg's Christin Eisenbeiß, Paula Schulz-Hansen and Charlotte Back will also receive invitations.
