Nestled in the exclusive desert landscape of Rancho Mirage, near Palm Springs, The Springs Country Club has been one of the region's finest addresses since it opened in 1975. As a private golf and country club, the complex is closely linked to a Homeowners Association — memberships are therefore primarily reserved for homeowners, guests tee off upon invitation. Anyone who enjoys the privilege of playing here will experience golf at the absolute top level.
A comprehensive clubhouse renovation was recently followed by a 16 million dollar modernization of the 18-hole course by architect Cary Bickler. He cleverly preserved Desmond Muirhead's original design and created a par 72 championship course that plays between 4,595 and 6,638 yards, depending on the tea box, and is therefore suitable for every skill level.

The challenging tracks run through a harmoniously modelled landscape of Bermuda fairways and lightning-fast Bent-Grass greens, which fit perfectly into the dramatic backdrop of the San Jacinto Mountains. Strategically placed bunkers and water hazards add depth to the course. The new optical integration of the obstacles, which now blend even more naturally into the desert vegetation, is particularly successful.
Even the start requires full concentration: The round starts sportily with an inviting par-5 before tactical skill counts on the following lanes. Routing is characterized by the rhythm in groups of three lanes, which enable particularly smooth playing. A highlight of the Front Nine is the short par-3 of the eighth track with its “water green” — photogenic and challenging at the same time.
The second nine holes increase the excitement and the dramatic scenery. Panoramic views and longer par 4 tracks require precise play. The 15th hole, a par 3 with 215 yards to be played over water, is considered one of the most impressive in the region and is a real postcard motif. The final point is 18, a stately par 5 with an imposing palm alley and a cleverly defended green that requires precision and patience until the last putt.
What sets The Springs apart is the relaxed, exclusive atmosphere. Fewer than 300 active members ensure that start times are always available without hassle. Small details such as free drinks, snacks and fruit during the round underline the genuine hospitality. Together with 46 pools, tennis and pickleball facilities and the modernized clubhouse, The Springs offers a lifestyle that perfectly combines sporting challenge with Californian elegance and the peace of an exclusive private club.
