If you are looking for a unique golf trip, you will find it in Nova Scotia - more precisely in Cabot Cape Breton, one of the most impressive golf resorts in the world and also the first resort of the renowned Cabot Group, which is continuously expanding its global portfolio. Fun fact: The group is also present in Scotland with Cabot Highlands - and both Cabot Highlands and Cabot Cape Breton are located in Inverness. What has been created here in the remote coastal landscape combines sporting excellence, impressive natural scenery and thoughtful hospitality. At its heart are three golf courses - Cabot Links, Cabot Cliffs and the 10-hole course The Nest - embedded in a resort concept that goes far beyond golf.
Here you will find more golf travel reports from the most beautiful golf courses in the world.
The Cabot Links Course, which opened in 2012, was the beginning of the success story. Designed by Rod Whitman, the course is a classic Par-70 links course up to 6,860 yards long with true Scottish characteristics - hard, fast, windy. The front nine starts below the hotel rooms with a promising Par 5, while the back nine features highlights such as the iconic hole 14 - a short, downhill Par 3 by the sea. Wind, undulations, undulating greens and challenging bunkers make Cabot Links a real touchstone. Important to know: The course is walking only - caddies are recommended and should be reserved well in advance.
Just five kilometers away and easily accessible by shuttle is the Cabot Cliffs Course, designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. Since its opening in 2015, the Par-72 course has become Canada's best public golf course and is ranked among the top 100 in the world. Cliffs offers dramatic views, spectacular elevation changes and a legendary finishing sequence: hole 16, a Par 3 with a green on a cliff-top plateau, is one of the most photogenic holes in golf. Here, too, it can only be played on foot, but offers unforgettable impressions in all weathers. The associated pro store is excellently stocked - and the halfway house invites you to stop for refreshments before tackling the final four holes.
The latest addition, The Nest, is Cabot's answer to entertaining golf. The 10-hole Par 30 course, also designed by Whitman, offers pure fun - whether as a relaxed round in daylight or spectacular night golf under floodlights. The holes are mostly less than 150 yards long, with only the final hole, at 232 yards, requiring additional precision. Special feature: every tee shot also offers the option of playing with just the Putt - the start of a round that is as serious as it is humorous.
The resort's accommodation is located along the Links Course and offers direct views of the Fairways and the open sea. Guests can choose between around 60 stylish hotel rooms and spacious villas - many with private terraces. Special detail: A putting cup including artificial turf awaits on the flooring in all rooms - perfect for the last Putt of the day. The Cabot Bar and Panorama Restaurant provide culinary experiences that will be appreciated after a challenging round - from freshly caught lobster to an excellent wine list. Guests staying at the resort also benefit from lower green fees and short distances between tee-off, kitchen and comfort.
Cabot Cape Breton is one of the most beautiful golf resorts in the world, its two 18-hole courses are considered the best courses in Canada - and with a direct flight from Frankfurt to Halifax (around 3 hours' drive from Cape Breton), the destination is now even more accessible.
