Knowing the exact distance to the flag is one of the key factors in choosing the right club—and thus in achieving better results on the course. The new Garmin Approach Z10 Rangefinder combines classic laser rangefinding with smart connectivity and is designed for all golfers, regardless of skill level or experience.
Measuring 105 × 78 × 43 millimeters and weighing just 178 grams, the Z10 fits comfortably in your hand. The included carrying case with a carabiner keeps the device within easy reach, while the built-in magnetic mount allows for quick attachment to a golf cart. The eyepiece can be individually adjusted to your prescription (± 3.5 diopters)—a convenience that’s often underestimated in everyday use.
The core feature of the Approach Z10 is its precise laser rangefinding, with an accuracy of ±1 yard. It can detect the flag up to 320 meters (350 yards) away, and reflective objects on the course up to 1,097 meters (1,200 yards).
To ensure that golfers can always be certain they’re measuring the flag—and not an obstacle behind it—the Z10 features the Flag Finder: When the device successfully locks onto the flag, it provides both visual confirmation on the display and vibration feedback. The built-in binoculars offer 6x magnification—in practice, the optimal balance of image size, stability, and quick focusing.
Elevation changes significantly affect the ball’s trajectory—a simple distance reading often falls short on hilly terrain. The PlaysLike Distance feature analyzes the elevation difference between the tee and the target and calculates the game-relevant, adjusted distance. If the green is uphill, the shot is rated as longer—and vice versa. If the device is connected via Bluetooth to the Garmin Golf app or a compatible smartwatch, wind and weather data are also factored into the calculation.
Note: In tournament mode, PlaysLike Distance is automatically disabled, as slope correction is not permitted in official competitions.
The Z10 is tournament-approved in accordance with Rule 4.3a of the R&A and USGA. Pressing the MODE button activates Tournament Mode, which disables the PlaysLike function and signals this externally with a blue LED—clearly visible to all fellow players.

The Z10 connects to your smartphone and compatible Garmin smartwatches via Bluetooth. The Range Relay feature transmits the measured distance directly to your wrist. The Garmin Golf app also displays the distances to the front and back edges of the green, as well as a graphical laser range arc. If you misplace the device on the course, you can locate it using Find My Garmin.
Garmin uses a CR2 battery with up to one year of battery life—easy to replace, no charging required. The IPX4 rating provides reliable protection against splashes and morning dew, and the operating temperature range of −10 °C to +50 °C makes the device suitable for any season.
The Garmin Approach Z10 is a well-designed rangefinder that leaves nothing to be desired on the course. Beginners benefit from its intuitive operation and clear vibration feedback during Flag Lock. Experienced players appreciate the PlaysLike feature, integration with the Garmin ecosystem, and its suitability for tournaments. Priced at around 260 euros, the Z10 is now available at Alpha Golf—a compelling option for anyone who wants to base their decisions on the course on solid data.
