Carlos Alcaraz won the US Open in an exciting and high-class final - in tennis, that is. The Spaniard deservedly defeated his long-time rival Jannik Sinner in four sets. The Italian was only able to show his best tennis throughout the second set, which he won. And what does that have to do with golf? When golf came into play, the match was just about over. As he had done after every round won at Flushing Meadows so far, Alcaraz turned his tennis racket around and cheered, imitating a golf swing.

He did so again after his second triumph at the Grand Slam in New York. Much to the delight of Sergio Garcia, by the way, who was immediately captured by the TV cameras. Europe's top points scorer at the Ryder Cup was jubilant and exuberant about his compatriot's victory and his passion for golf. The two Spaniards had already played a round of golf before the semi-final against Novak Djokovic.
"It works well, so why should I change this routine? Every day off I try to play some golf," revealed the now six-time Grand Slam winner after the quarter-finals of the US Open. "I started playing at the beginning of 2020. I just love playing golf," said Alcaraz, explaining his passion for the sport. "When I was very, very young, I often went to the driving range to hit a few balls. I enjoyed that, but since 2020 I've started playing more, getting out on the course and playing a few holes. I just fell in love with golf. I played more and more. I've seen myself improve and that's made me even more passionate about golf. I just feel very peaceful when I go out and play golf on the course," the ATP Tour quotes him as saying.
