Anyone who wants to take their golf game to the next level knows that the approach shot determines whether you make Par. This is exactly where the U.S. manufacturer comes in with the new Callaway Opus SP+. This Wedge isn’t just another addition to the lineup—it’s a technologically advanced precision tool specifically designed to help golfers get the ball onto the green on a flatter trajectory with significantly more spin.

The secret behind the Callaway Opus SP+’s performance lies in a radical redistribution of mass. The engineers have enlarged the so-called “Spin Pocket”—a cavity in the lower part of the clubhead—by a whopping 25 percent compared to the standard model.
This weight reduction in the lower part of the head allowed for the placement of solid tungsten in the topline. With a total of 18 grams of tungsten, the Callaway Opus SP+ contains 23 percent more of this heavy metal than the previous Opus Platinum. This extremely high center of gravity (CG) ensures that the ball does not “soar” uncontrollably into the air, but instead launches on a flatter, penetrating trajectory and bites into the ground immediately upon landing.

In addition to weighting, the clubface plays a crucial role in consistency. The Callaway Opus SP+ utilizes the new Spin Gen 2.0 technology. A modified groove angle of 17 degrees and closer spacing between the grooves maximize contact with the ball’s surface.
A deep, laser-etched cross-hatch pattern across the entire face provides additional friction. This surface texture ensures reliable spin rates with the Callaway Opus SP+, especially on partial swings or from difficult lies in the Rough. Visually, Callaway relies on the “Shape 6” profile, a compact and classic design based directly on feedback from Tour players.

To cater to every type of player, the Callaway Opus SP+ is available in three different grind options:

The Callaway Opus SP+ isn’t a Wedge for everyone; rather, it’s designed for ambitious golfers and elite ball-strikers who demand full control over their ball flight. If you want to eliminate those typical high, “fluttering” Wedge shots and prefer a controlled, spinning ball flight instead, the Callaway Opus SP+ is the club for you.
The Wedge will be available starting March 6, 2026, at a price of approximately €269.99. It comes standard with a True Temper Dynamic Gold S200 shaft and a True Temper Icon Velvet grip.
