The US company Bushnell Golf is expanding its range of laser rangefinders. With the Tour V7 Shift model, the manufacturer is introducing a new display technology that focuses on the calculated slope distance. The device is now available in stores (February 23, 2025).
Laser rangefinders have long since established themselves as the standard for professional distance measurement on the golf course. Bushnell, whose devices are used by the majority of professionals on the PGA Tour according to the manufacturer, is now launching a successor model, the Tour V7 Shift, which primarily changes the hierarchy of information on the display.
The most striking new feature of the Tour V7 Shift is the so-called "Slope First Technology". While conventional laser rangefinders often display the actual line of sight as the primary value, this model focuses on the distance corrected by the angle of inclination ("play-as" distance). In the new dual-color OLED display, this calculated value is shown in green to help players orient themselves more quickly in the event of height differences.
"With the Tour V7 Shift, we wanted to create a display experience that matches the golfer's mindset when preparing for a shot," explains Derek Schuman from Bushnell Golf. The aim was to present the crucial number for club selection more intuitively and clearly than was the case with previous models.
In addition to pure distance measurement, this new laser rangefinder has a memory function called "Yardage Range Recall". The last measured value can be recalled at the touch of a button, which can be particularly useful in training situations or for quickly backing up data.
The device is also "LINK-enabled". In combination with the Bushnell Golf app and compatible Launch-Monitors (e.g. from Foresight Sports), users can synchronize personalized data from their "MyBag" profile. This enables individual club recommendations directly via the laser rangefinder, based on their own previously measured performance data.
Despite the technical enhancements, the device adheres to proven standards. The "Slope-Switch" technology still allows the slope calculation to be deactivated with a flick of the wrist. This means that the laser rangefinder meets the requirements for use in official tournaments, where the use of slope functions is prohibited.
The magnetic "BITE" mount is again integrated for attachment to the golf bag or cart. The optical unit offers 6x magnification and is protected against water jets in accordance with the IPX6 standard, allowing the device to be used even in rainy conditions.
