Starting signal for TGL season 2: A final rematch to kick things off

The TGL ("Tomorrow Golf League"), the tech league created by golf superstars Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, is entering its second round. It kicks off on Sunday, December 28, 2025, with a rematch of the thrilling final of the inaugural season: defending champion Atlanta Drive GC will face New York Golf Club.

The opening match will be a historic event, as it will be the first time that a TGL match has been broadcast on US free-to-air TV on ABC. There is also good news for fans in Europe: TGL matches will be available live on Sky Sports. The player rosters remain high-caliber: Justin Thomas and Patrick Cantlay, among others, will tee off for Atlanta, while New York will feature players such as Xander Schauffele and Rickie Fowler.

Pure drama at the 1st TGL final

Anyone who watched the first final knows how exciting the league can be. In a best-of-three series, Atlanta Drive defeated New York Golf Club 2-0, but the matches were anything but a clear-cut affair. Both duels were decided by just one point difference.

A special moment of the season was Atlanta's incredible comeback in the second final match. With four holes remaining, the team was 3-0 down. But led by Billy Horschel, who forced the equalizer with a decisive 5-meter Birdie Putt on hole 14, the champions turned the match around and won 4:3.

A successful start to the season in the TGL paves the way to the ultimate prize: the SoFi Cup. Before the opening game, Atlanta Drive will appropriately raise the banner for their title win at home in the SoFi Center.

TGL format simply explained

The Tomorrow Golf League is an innovative indoor format that combines classic golf with state-of-the-art technology. It is played in the specially built SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

Each match is made up of two stages of play:

• "triples": Over nine holes, three players from each team compete in an alternate-shot format.
• "Singles": The professionals then play over six holes in a one-on-one competition.

Points are awarded during the regular season: Two points are awarded for a win in regulation time or overtime, one point goes to the team that loses in overtime, and no points are awarded for a loss in regulation time. In the end, the best four teams qualify for the playoffs. There, a knockout match will decide who advances to the final, where the winner will be crowned in a best-of-three series.

Six TGL teams - and soon more

In the second season, all six teams from the premiere season will compete again. In addition to the finalists, these are the teams of Rory McIlroy (Boston Common Golf), Tiger Woods (Jupiter Links Golf Club), Los Angeles Golf Club and The Bay Golf Club. From the third season, which starts in 2027, the league will be expanded to include Motor City Golf Club from Detroit.
