While the "Players Distance" category focuses on the balance between sportiness and technology, Ping is addressing a different segment with the new G740 series: "Super Game Improvement". The focus here is on technical support for the game of golf through forgiveness and consistency.
The G740 Irons are designed to make playability easier for golfers who want more support in the consistency of their ball flights. The technical tricks focus on a lower center of gravity and an increase in the moment of inertia (MOI):

The G740 Irons are primarily aimed at golfers whose game is characterized by the desire for more safety and fault tolerance. Technically, players who regularly hit the ball rather low on the clubface will benefit in particular. The design aims to keep the ball speed as constant as possible even with such hits and to promote a flight height that is relevant for scoring.
Ping also offers variability in the "Super Game Improvement" irons to adapt the equipment to personal needs. The loft options (Standard, Power Spec, Retro Spec) make it possible to individually adjust the flight curve and the achievable distances.
The G740 Irons follow a clear philosophy: the technology is designed to make the physical demands of golf easier for golfers. By consistently focusing on a high MOI and a low center of gravity, they are a tool designed to cushion technical fluctuations in the swing. As with the entire Ping range, the decision for this model should be made on the basis of individual flight data during a fitting to find the ideal balance of loft configuration and shaft selection.
