If you’re looking for the ultimate combination of dramatic natural beauty and an exclusive resort lifestyle, Quivira Los Cabos is the place to be. Located at the southernmost tip of Baja California, this Jack Nicklaus-designed signature course offers a setting that is unparalleled anywhere in the world. Huge sand dunes, rugged cliffs, extreme elevation changes, and the deep-blue Pacific Ocean merge here into a total work of art for golfers, where players can admire both the sunrise and the sunset.
Quivira consistently adheres to a “resort-exclusive” concept. Access is strictly limited: only property owners, timeshare owners, and guests of the Pueblo Bonito hotels are permitted on the course. On the golf course, Quivira prioritizes fun and a spectacular experience over cutthroat competition. The layout remains fair and playable for golfers of all skill levels.
Here you’ll find numerous other travel reports on the world’s most beautiful golf courses.
The round is full of unforgettable moments. Already on the front nine, holes 5 and 6 offer absolute highlights that run so close to the cliff’s edge that players should bring not only precise shots but also a healthy dose of a head for heights.
Another unique feature is the distance between the fourth green and the fifth Tee: the path climbs steeply for a staggering 1.6 kilometers before you continue the round with a blind uphill Tee shot. Although the green, set back from the sea, is clearly visible straight ahead, even long hitters will find it difficult to hit it directly.
The Back Nine seamlessly continue the visual spectacle. In particular, Hole 12—a long Par-5 that winds spectacularly downhill—and the unique Hole 13, whose green majestically overlooks the roaring ocean, remain playable yet unforgettable.
Stretching along holes 5 through 7 and hole 14 is the “Old Lighthouse Club” luxury development, featuring villas valued at over three million U.S. dollars.
In a region where water is a precious commodity, Quivira demonstrates ecological ingenuity: The hardy Paspalum grass is irrigated using graywater from the nearby city of Cabo San Lucas, which is cleverly and resource-efficiently channeled to the course solely by gravity.
An absolute highlight of the round is the all-inclusive experience: The green fee includes not only the golf cart and use of the practice facilities, but also full access to the legendary Comfort Stations. Here, players are treated to first-class snacks and refreshing drinks at all three holes throughout the round!
Thanks to Condor’s direct flights from Frankfurt to Los Cabos/San José del Cabo, Baja California is easily accessible. The combination of spectacular views and the emphasis on the overall experience make a round at Quivira a must-play —and together with the magnificent beaches at the southern tip of Mexico and the legendary sandbar, the region offers the perfect blend of golf and a beach vacation.
