Choosing the right golf shoe has a significant impact on comfort and performance on the course. Modern models offer a variety of technologies and designs. This overview compares different women's golf shoes (some unisex) from well-known brands and highlights their specific features.
The Footjoy Pro SLX Carbon is a spikeless golf shoe designed for stability and comfort. It uses waterproof leather and combines technologies such as the Carbon PWR TRAX system and Carbon 3D X-Wing technology to improve traction and swing energy distribution. Hidden behind the sonorous name is a sole construction that is said to be particularly stable thanks to a large X. FootJoy promises that the energy from your swing can be transferred to the ball in the best possible way. The outsole provides additional grip. Cushioning is provided by StratoFOAM in the sole and the OrthoLite Impressions footbed. The fit is based on the Laser Plus last with a rounded toe, has a standard width and a slightly narrower heel, which provides a comfortable fit and extra depth for cushioning.
The Ecco Golf Core golf shoe is based on a combination of high-quality materials and functionality. The spikeless model is made from breathable ECCO leather from the in-house tannery and is equipped with a waterproof membrane to keep feet dry. Comfort is provided by ECCO's FLUIDFORM technology and a removable, cushioned insole that can be removed for extra width if required. The outsole with enlarged, twisted elements is designed to ensure durable traction in all directions.
With the Gazelle Golf and Retrocross 25 models, Adidas has launched two spikeless golf shoes that combine retro design with golf-ready performance. Both golf shoes are part of the Adidas Originals collection, which has reissued retro classics and brought them into the world of golf.
What they have in common is the versatile, spikeless rubber outsole for traction during the swing and comfort off the green. Both models emphasize comfort and integrate recycled materials into their construction to reduce the ecological footprint - the Retrocross 25 contains a higher proportion of recycled materials (at least 70%) than the Gazelle Golf upper (at least 50%).
The differences lie primarily in their design inspiration and the materials and cushioning technologies used. The Gazelle Golf directly adapts the well-known silhouette of the classic Gazelle sneaker with its characteristic upper material and uses drop-in EVA cushioning. The Retrocross 25, on the other hand, picks up on retro elements inspired by tennis courts, uses a leather upper for a classic look and integrates ultra-lightweight Lightstrike cushioning. While the fit of the Retrocross 25 is specified as regular, that of the Gazelle Golf follows the familiar shape of the original sneaker.
With the 574 Greens V2 and 997 SL models, New Balance offers two spikeless golf shoes for women that are designed to combine comfort and functionality on the course. Although both focus on a comfortable fit and reliable traction, they do have some differences.
Similarities include the spikeless rubber outsole, which is designed for natural foot movement and offers durability. Both models also feature a CUSH+ insole, which is designed to increase comfort, as well as a 10 mm heel-to-toe drop in the midsole for lightweight cushioning and reactivity.
Differences are primarily evident in their design inspiration and the specific technologies of the midsole. The 574 Greens V2 is based on classic New Balance models and uses a DynaSoft® midsole for the best possible comfort. This golf shoe is guaranteed waterproof for two years. The 997 SL is inspired by the more modern 997H, has a breathable microfiber leather upper and relies on an Abzorb® midsole for better shock absorption. New Balance also guarantees that this model is waterproof. Both shoes are options for female golfers who are looking for a comfortable and stable shoe without Spikes, but differ slightly in terms of style and technology.
Nike offers two golf shoes, the Air Max Plus G and the Air Zoom Infinity Tour Next 2, made with waterproof uppers and integrating Nike Air cushioning technologies to provide comfort and support during the round.
The main differences lie in their design and some performance features. The Air Max Plus G adapts the distinctive look of the Air Max Plus streetwear shoe and brings it to the golf course. It uses a modified spikeless outsole for traction and combines Tuned Air Zoom in the forefoot with Max Air in the heel for vibration and shock absorption. Stability is ensured by an internal cage system and a midfoot plate.
The Air Zoom Infinity Tour Next 2, on the other hand, is designed as a performance golf shoe and features six soft Spikes on the outsole for maximum traction in all conditions. Its design is more performance-oriented, with nods to golf history. It uses a lower Air Zoom unit and a newly developed foam in the midsole for improved stability and a consistent feel. The waterproof upper is made from full-grain leather and waxed canvas.
The Duca del Cosma Cortona features a waterproof microfiber upper and a Waterproof Bootie System to keep feet dry. The lightweight Airplay Roma outsole is equipped with studs and grooves for grip on various surfaces. A special feature is the removable INSITE® insole, which provides targeted arch support and cushioning. Designed with a comfort last, the Cortona offers an average fit and, thanks to its style, is also well suited off the golf course.
The G/FORE MG4+ is a golf shoe that aims for a combination of lightweight comfort and technical performance. The spikeless model with rubber studs is made of waterproof T.P.U. upper material and has an outsole with different traction patterns designed to provide grip. Stability is provided by a 3D molded external heel counter. Inside, a responsive midsole, a padded lining and a removable, washable insole ensure comfort. Please note the rather narrow fit; if you are in between sizes, we recommend choosing a half or full size larger.
