With the BIOM C5, Danish shoe specialist ECCO Golf is sending its latest flagship model onto the green for the 2026 season. The model promises a symbiosis of the usual anatomical fit and a radically new ventilation concept. We have analyzed the technical innovations and performance features of the successor to the popular BIOM series.
The brand's own BIOM NATURAL MOTION technology is once again at the heart of the new development. Unlike conventional, often stiff golf shoes, the design of the C5 is based on an anatomical last that replicates the natural curves of the human foot.
The aim of this "low-to-the-ground" construction is to provide more direct feedback from the ground. The proximity to the ground is intended to improve balance and optimize power transmission during the rotational movement in the swing. Timo Vollrath, Head of Global Marketing at ECCO GOLF, describes the approach as a "balance of innovation, performance and Scandinavian craftsmanship", which aims to noticeably reduce foot fatigue on long rounds.
The most striking technological innovation concerns moisture management. While many waterproof shoes often lose breathability due to their membranes, the BIOM C5 uses GORE-TEX SURROUND technology.
This system is complemented by a material mix of durable Performance leather and technical mesh on the upper, which gives the shoe a sportier look and reduces the overall weight.

The newly developed ECCO E-TTS (Total Traction System) outsole provides the necessary grip. In contrast to classic Spikes, ECCO uses firmly integrated traction elements that are aligned in different directions. This is intended to ensure a secure footing on wet grass as well as a powerful push off during the swing.
The connection between the upper material and the sole is made using the tried-and-tested FLUIDFORM technology. The sole material is injected directly onto the shoe, which creates a seamless, waterproof connection and increases durability as there are no brittle gluing points.
The Ecco BIOM C5 golf shoe is available in two closure variants:
A practical detail for players with orthopaedic insoles or wider feet is the removable comfort insole, which can be removed to create additional volume in the shoe.
With the BIOM C5, ECCO delivers a consistent further development for sporty golfers who spend a lot of time on foot. The combination of extreme breathability thanks to the sole ventilation and the proven anatomical fit makes it a strong all-rounder for changeable conditions. Whether the complex air channels in the sole are high-maintenance when heavily soiled remains to be seen in practice on the course.
