Charlie Woods, son of golf superstar Tiger Woods, has qualified to take part in the US Junior Amateur for the second time in a row. The tournament is the most important event for US juniors and also offers the chance to qualify for the Junior Ryder Cup. Woods survived a three-man play-off at the qualifying tournament to compete at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas in July.
In his debut at the US Junior Amateur 2024, the now 16-year-old failed to make the cut. He played 22 over par and finished 240th out of 264 players to miss out on a place in the final rounds, which are held in match play mode. The winner of the event is guaranteed a place on Team USA for the Junior Ryder Cup, which will be held shortly before the Ryder Cup in September.

Woods recently made a name for himself with his first tournament win. At the Team TaylorMade Invitational at Streamsong Resort, which is part of a series organized by the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA), he not only took the trophy, but also collected many points for the AJGA ranking, in which he is now ranked 17th. He is even listed as the fourth-best junior in the USA in his year.
Charlie's father Tiger won the US Junior Amateur three times in his youth (1991, 1992 and 1993). Tiger also won the adult amateur event, the US Amateur, three times. The now 48-year-old has also won the US Open three times.
