If you want to take your golf game to the next level, you know that the approach determines the Par. This is exactly where the US manufacturer comes in with the new Callaway Opus SP+. This wedge is not just an addition to the range, but a technologically advanced precision weapon that has been specially developed to help golfers hit the ball flatter and with significantly more spin.
The secret behind the performance of the Callaway Opus SP+ lies in a radical redistribution of mass. The engineers have enlarged the so-called "spin pocket" - a cavity in the lower part of the club head - by a whopping 25 percent compared to the standard model.
This weight saving in the lower part of the head made it possible to place solid tungsten in the topline. With a total of 18 grams of tungsten, the Callaway Opus SP+ has 23 percent more of this heavy metal than the previous Opus Platinum. This extremely high center of gravity (CG) ensures that the ball does not "rise" uncontrollably for players, but starts in a flatter, penetrating window and bites immediately on landing.

In addition to the weighting, the clubface plays a decisive role in consistency. The Callaway Opus SP+ uses the new Spin Gen 2.0 technology. A modified groove angle of 17 degrees and tighter spacing between the grooves maximize contact with the ball surface.
A deep, laser-etched cross-hatch pattern on the entire clubface provides additional friction. This surface structure of the Callaway Opus SP+ guarantees reliable spin rates, especially on partial shots or from difficult positions in the Rough. Visually, Callaway relies on the "Shape 6" profile, a compact and classic shape based directly on feedback from Tour players.
To suit every type of player, the Callaway Opus SP+ is offered in three different grind options:

The Callaway Opus SP+ is not a wedge for everyone, but is aimed at ambitious golfers and elite ballstrikers who demand full control over their trajectory. If you want to eliminate the typical high, "fluttering" wedge shots and instead prefer a controlled, spinning ball flight, the Callaway Opus SP+ is for you.
The wedge will be available from March 6, 2026 at a price of around €269.99. It comes with a True Temper Dynamic Gold S200 shaft and a True Temper Icon Velvet grip as standard.
