The Austrian Alpine Open prize money reflects the importance of the tournament on Tour, but certainly not the importance for fans and the field of players. With a total prize money for the Austrian Alpine Open of 2,750,000 US dollars (approx. 2.5 million euros), the event belongs to the smallest category on the tour calendar. Nicolai von Dellingshausen, the defending champion from Germany, collected a good €411,000 for his maiden victory on the DP World Tour in 2025.

The Austrian Alpine Open presented by SalzburgerLand (2025) was a success, but Kitzbühel is setting new standards in 2026. The course has been made fit for the Alpine Austrian Open with seven new tees, freshly modeled bunkers and an innovative practice facility. The region also offers access to 16 first-class partner courses with the Golf Tirol Card, making the Austrian Alpine Golf Open the perfect destination for a golf vacation.
A look at the history books shows its appeal: famous former winners such as Bernhard Langer (1990) or the Austrians Markus Brier (2006) and Bernd Wiesberger (2012) have proven that the Austrian Alpine Open Golf is making history. Even though the tournament has only been held under this name since 2025, the Austrian Golf Open, Lyoness Open and Austrian Open can be regarded as legitimate predecessors of the Austrian Alpine Open. There have always been interruptions to the organization over several years, so it was not until 2006 that a tournament of the former European Tour took place in Austria again after 1996. the Austrian Alpine Open started in 2025, after the last Austrian Golf Open had taken place in 2021.
